The artist was Arnold Friberg, I had dinner with him, oh thirty five years back, look him up. He is perhaps best known for his 1975 painting The Prayer at Valley Forge, a depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge. He is also well known for his 15 "pre-visualization" paintings for the Cecil B. This photo is awesome. Did you know the continental army was starving. They had no rations. Then in the middle of Winter a heavenly sent warm weather front hit imitating a spring thaw. A breed of fish thought it was spawning season and started a run up the river early. The continental army walked into the Riverbend and scooped up fish by the barrel full. Truly a divine moment. I may not have the story perfectly accurate but it's true and tells all American descendants we are a nation chosen by our creator. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
