Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I’m pet sitting at an expensive house. Their pantry is full of processed foods. We don’t buy them at our house, but I’m trying a few of their snacks. They just don’t taste the way they used to.?? Anyway it saves me some money. I don’t like to buy the garbage, but if it’s free, I might try a snack but that’s it.
lol might as well e joy the junk for a little while 🥴
I grew up on junk food as well as home cooked food. I loved both equally. The junk food of the 70s of course wasn’t real food but it was closer to being real than junk food of today. I didn’t read labels back then but I bet you could understand the ingredients. Today I can’t stand the taste of most junk (manmade) food. Even chocolate chips taste weird. If you stop eating toxic ingredients then try them again they taste nasty. At least that’s my experience. Unfortunately some things still taste awesome like Oreo’s and many other cookies. I don’t think once in a a while it’s going to mess you up. Enjoy the free snacks.
I had to Oreo cookies yesterday with a squirt of whip cream on top of each of them. I did enjoy that very much. They also have smarties, because of Easter. But they’re half the size that used to be because you know shrinkflation 🤷♀️
Some science says that the bacteria in your gut has the ability to send chemical signals to your brain to increase the cravings of the foods you often eat. Different bacteria feeds on different foods. If you often eat sweets or processed food, those bacteria have stronger sway on what you believe is "good". If you don't eat a lot of processed food, it repulses you naturally.

THIS IS SO TRUE! And… same with the parasites in your body. They crave sugar, if you do a parasite cleanse on a regular basis, it helps with cravings for sugar. Thanks for posting this because it is so true. What we feed in our body, is what we will continue to crave. When I’m at home with my mom, we don’t eat a bunch of junk food. We just don’t buy it anymore. Even being at someone else’s house, and being able to eat junk food, it’s been really minimal for me. Like you said, I just don’t have the cravings.
Actually, it is that if you have an overgrowth of candida in your gut, the candida will send you signals. via the vagus nerve,to eat sugar, because that is their preferred food.
Huh, that is awesome
