I am glad it is working out for you, I'm not certain how the temperatures compare in central California to northwest Maryland, but our heat pump is terrible. I have heard they have gotten better over time, but mine is from around 9 or 10 years ago.
I got it this year, I got in a fight with my wall heater last year it was so bad. I threw it out in the yard in the middle of the night. I was reduced to staying in my bathroom with heat lamps. The wall heater when set at 70 would not come on until it dropped to 58 or so then not go off until about 90. You sweat then freeze, the thing was only 3 years old and china doesn't make the part to fix it anymore. Nothing lasts anymore.
