A couple weeks ago I happened to be listening to a service by James Kaddis and he gave some interesting insight into this verse.

Here's the teaching if anyone would be interested (the part where he talks about Psalm 118 is here).

He contends that the day that is spoken of in this verse is pointing to the triumphal entry.
