This is based upon the wedding ceremony of the time. The bridegroom and bride would sign the marriage contract. Then, the bride would go home to prepare for the wedding. The groom would go back to his father's house to add rooms onto the home for his future bride, and fill it with all of the things they would need as a married couple. Once the bridegroom's tasks were completed, the bridegroom had to wait for his father to give the word to go retrieve his bride for the wedding feast.
The bride had to be ready for whenever her groom would show up. She and her bridesmaids even slept in their wedding attire, as oftentimes the groom would come in the middle of the night. Once the bridegroom arrived, the bride, her attendants, and all of the invited guests would follow the groom back to his father's home. Once everyone was inside, the door would be locked. Anyone who was late, would not be admitted to the feast.
The father represents God, the bridegroom is Christ, and the bride is the Church.
Did you study the Bible with Chuck Missler?
I was fascinated by his through the Bible in 24 hours series and plan to watch through it again soon!
I learned this from a video that I watched online. I don't remember who made it. I am not familiar with Chuck Missler, but that's not to say that he's not the one who made the video.
