'you didn't protect me from an event that didn't happen'!

Maybe they did, and thats why the event with 'catastrophic effects' never actually happened. Maybe it will never happen and this 'protection' is just a criminal extorting swindle, like demands to buy a rock that keeps tigers away enforced with threats of violent reprisals if the precious rock is not purchased.

I'd like to see the swiss being all 'Ok so we will abduct you with violent force against your will and send you to the bottom of a mile-deep mineshaft where you can be be safe, and stay there until you die. Is that what you want, this 'human right' of safety you demand so stridently?'

The height of stupidity is to think government is a problem-solving tool even in the most ideal of cases.. and this is far from that.
