That was just Kubrick's style, he wasn't hitting the audience over the head with the message of his films, which is why he was so great.
He didn't just "happen to be a journalist", That was the story that was written for a reason. The Born to Kill on his helmet, the peace pin on his fatigues, running into his old mates from bootcamp who have now become savages and documenting them, and eventually getting his first kill making the transition from being a spectator into a killer (one of them), played a larger part of the film than you picked up on.
I'd argue that not only is it similar, but I doubt Civil war can come close to accomplishing what FMJ did.
Also not sure if Civil War was shot in a 'fake' documentary style (think spinal tap - fuck Rob Reiner), looks like its just following Journalists making a documentary.
Just the part where you said “ I DISAGREE WITH YOUR (OVER)ANALYSIS. PERIOD.” Says all I need to know about your stance here. If you think I over analyzed this film, you have clearly under analyzed it, and it is painfully obvious.
Of course he left the film up to viewer interpretation? But the fact that it was thru the lens of a fucking journalist is not up for discussion.
Oh and telling people to “go fuck themselves” over a disagreement of a movie. Real classy. Maybe you need somebody to talk to? I’m here buddy.

Don't get mad at me you didn't get it. It's worth a rewatch. Kubrick's films went over alot of people's heads on their first viewings.
