I cannot wait for NPR to lose it's public financing and have to get money by actually doing journalism. If they cannot bring in the dollars with their writing and radio shows, oh well, they need to go the way of the Do-Do bird. I'm darn tired of my tax money going for exclusive liberal projects. Let's use some tax dollars to teach firearm safety within schools.
The original idea was news and information untainted by corporate influence. That was the cover story wen people were suspicious of business but trusted government. A more innocent time..
PBS did do some cool stuff 50 years ago. You weren’t going to find Dr. Who anywhere else. Also they were among the pioneers of HDTV. As a television systems engineer I saw the transition from Black and White TV to NTSC color, and then to 1080 HDTV over the air and it wouldn’t have happened without PBS so now you can watch 1950s B&W classics in a crystal clear 422 colorspace high resolution MPEG compressed multiplex signal on the UHF band, but hardly anyone does…. Even Grandma’s streaming ROKU.
