What happens if you look through the wrong end of a telescope? Image gets smaller, less clear. 40,000 feet changes to closer view? I have no idea, but this seems like the most obvious comm.

In this context, I am remembering that bit when Q asks about Marines working withe the NG. And there was an oft repeated joke between the two services that the Navy is the chauffeur for the Marines.
