Back in the 1980s, I attended an Army industry workshop at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, on the subject of air and missile defense. Lots of presentation slides with fancy artwork about proposed system developments. Israel was present with slides showing their progress on Arrow hardware. Generally, the U.S. attitude was dismissive: "Oh, look at the grotty hardware." 40 years later, Israel has a better air defense system than any major U.S. city.
