I believe that since the Renaissance until now we've been living under the love and protection of our Lord. Since we've turned our backs on Him (collectively as a country), His love and protection will diminish.

Not because He isn't powerful enough to hold them back, but because He loves us and gives us what we ask for (or in this case, lack of asking.) We're going to see some interesting things coming up!
