Back in my day, a kid would have identified as a cat for about 5 minutes, then common sense would have kicked in and the parents would be called to deal with their kid at home instead of disturbing the rest of the kids there to learn.
My little sister went through a phase where she though she was a cat. We brothers fed her cat treats for about a week. That solved the problem.
