I have to be honest. Living in nyc and counting the days until I leave for good, feeling all is lost here, this made me smile. I know there are a few good ones around still.
Yeah. Rents are insane. I lucked out with decent rent for a decade in the northern edge of the city and then bought a co-op. Rent is a losing proposition here. Especially now. At least with the co-op, I have a decent amount of equity when I leave. Unless the whole city goes under before then.

My nephew lived in NYC. Made what around here is called very good money.
It took 5 guys to be able to afford rent. He's in Seattle now.
