Looking from a modern perspective, post JFK assassination, a number of military Generals who knew that the Deep State killed Kennedy formed a long term plan to defeat this Cabal because they knew that all aspects of the government had been subverted.

It is believed that Q Plan was the outcome of decades of planning and setting up foundation by these Generals. Its quite plausible that both Trump and JFK Jr (who were very close) were groomed by these Generals to be the public face public face of this counter coup when the time comes.

Q says that JFK Jr's death and Hillary's ascension to the Senate seat he was campaigning for, was the start of the this Q Plan. Trump knew that both R & D were two sides of the same coin. He knew how powerful CIA was (watcing JFK and RFK assassinations), how powerful media was (watching Nixon). He learnt from all these mistakes and when the military knew that the 16 year plan was half way through done, and Hillary was going to drive the death shot, they requested Trump to run for the presidency.

He picked R as his party since it was the dormant of the two factions at that moment and probably less subverted than Ds.

Looking from an ancient perspective, the enemy we face is not flesh and blood by principalities. These principalities are the Luciferian blood lines that have been waging a war against Humanity since the beginning.

If you accept this perspective, then the secret societies are nothing but people who understand the true nature of this universe, the God, the Devil and who have been passing this info down their generations in secret. These are the "initiated" people who know the mysteries.

Amongst these initiated there has been multiple factions who have been broadly opposed to each other along the lines of those who align with God and those who align with Lucifer. Almost every world leader has been initiated before being put in their positions, and whether they and time and again they always came to realise that the Luciferian program is ultimately about destroying humanity and turned against their masters. Napoleon, Lincoln, Kennedy, Hitler, Stalin - everyone of them the same.

It is quite possible that these originated a secret society that remembers the lessons in all these events and who decided that the only way to defeat the Devil is to expose him to the World. Then the military generals, the Q and Trump - everyone must have been initiated into this secret society and we are seeing the culmination of this plan that has been hatched for centuries, if not millenia.
