Just keep doing your thing. Always challenge yourself. You will be just fine and have lots of fun.
I'm not musically educated, I don't know what note is what, and I'm too autistic to do scales or trills, so I have my own strategy. I'd read somewhere that you can learn to sing by singing a wide variety of songs.
I was already in my 50's when I started singing, my father was supposedly a good singer and met my mother and they eloped after she became infatuated with his singing. He met all his future wives and GF that way. So maybe love of singing is in my DNA. Unfortunately, my father was a murderer, he and my mom were both drunks and he punched my mother in the belly while pregnant with me. I got a lazy eye from that, but the baby a year later only lived 4 days. Probably punched harder...
So, I never persued singing when young, but then started singing Karaoke in the Philippines when I went to get married there. They use cabinets like video game machines for Karaoke there and will deliver anywhere when you rent them. My goal is to become a better singer than dear ol' dad, but I'll never know when/if I'll get there so I intend to keep improving. Heh
That's the way to go. The Philippines is great for singers. The really get American music.
My niche market is the many expats in Dumaguete... When I married my wife there in 2011 the young Filipinos were listening mostly to old rock like their parents. Now they listen to the new stuff because of FB and TikTok etc... But their old geezer husbands want to hear the music of their generation not Taylor Swift and K-Pop.
I'm acquiring equipment now to take there to start out with. EV Everse 12 battery-powered speakers that sound great! They are also loud enough to do a small venue. However, I'll be doing street karaoke and busking while I try and find musicians. I'm going to have an expat party when I get there. With Battery powered equipment I can play anywhere... Will buy a Bluetti power bank as well.
My goal is to have fun! I will start a legit business with my grandchild, a great niece, and a niece as majority owners, since I can't own a business majority. The niece has one more year to complete her business BA, the other two are children. I'll pay the band well, I will be happy to sing and get a meal or whatever.
I will have a YouTube portfolio and can let the customers who are having the function tailor what they want to hear to some extent. That way I can practice the songs they pick out with the band ahead of time.
Man that is how you live! There should be plenty of sharp musicians in the Philippines
