Much as I don't like her, as a dog-owner I would feel compelled to put that dog down. Anyone living in a city would have had their dog impounded and destroyed by the pound, for killing other peoples chickens and biting. The fact that she decided to pay the victims on the spot and shoot the dog herself, shows her strength of character, and even some humanity, as the dog would not have suffered incarcation and being put down by faceless humans.
