To be branded in a Fascist in the middle of the 1930s-40s. You basically just had to disagree with some facet of classical Liberalism and Republicanism.

To get branded a Fascist in modern day. You just need to be a Nationalist and disagree even only marginally with larger schools of left-wing thought.
And him being a fervent Anti-Communist, Nationalist, and a Monarchist would again fit the bill to a T.
