Not directly related (I just don’t get it either aesthetically or humorously) but there’s something which seems to be ignored nowadays: the original Greek Democracy was based by town and also the « demos », people which were highly segregated from « the other people ». The word « barbarian » actually described non-Greek people coming from the North.
Nowadays, democracy (which rightfully doesn’t deserve its Capital D anymore) is just a trick to get the masses unhappily mixed, frightened and obedient.
I was born on Columbus Day in a country that doesn’t celebrate it, btw. I am so glad you are well surrounded on this special day. I hope you keep feeling blessed for as long as you remember you actually are.🙏🏻💐
The point is that in order to get anything done, you absolutely need a very long time horizon to plan things. For this, you need things like governments and laws and taxes to be inherently stable. But a free-for-all pure democracy is the opposite of inherently stable.
If you cannot count on relative stability, you cannot plan and invest in the long-term and if you cannot do that, you 100% fail to compete with those who can.
This is why the US now has a uniparty and clans of hereditary politicians. Whatever the original idea was, the system necessarily tends towards increased stability. And why the system absolutely went nuts when Trump was elected explicitly to make it less stagnant.
So if you want to fix democracy, you need to figure out how to maximize stability while also making sure the stagnant stable system doesn't become a swamp. Good luck with that :)
I asked chatgpt what the image means and it got the jist of it: This meme is a play on words. The image shows a boat with potatoes, suggesting the phrase "tater ship," which sounds like "dictatorship." The caption, "this is not a democracy it's a," implies that instead of being a democracy, it is a "dictatorship," using the visual pun of a ship full of potatoes to complete the joke.
Thought it was a dick tater ship, then realised it was a Biden Boat Parade
MSM is full of common taters

12th, I didn’t know it was changing.🤓💐
A pure democracy doesn't work even in theory.
