"Abolished" is a bit misleading. Taxation "kinda/sorta" makes sense ... but there's a heavy BUT...

... didn't our Declaration of Independence reference "taxation without representation" ?

SADLY - mostly through taxation, the U.S. Citizen has been overcome by a Parasite, sucking its life blood to thrive on its own for its own purposes.

It's a wonder our Earth doesn't trembly more often from our patriotic ancestors rolling in their graves.
