as originally worded by John Adams:
"After the first enumeration required by the first article of the Constitution, there shall be one Representative for every thirty thousand, until the number shall amount to one hundred, after which the proportion shall be so regulated by Congress, that there shall be not less than one hundred Representatives, nor less than one Representative for every forty thousand persons, until the number of Representatives shall amount to two hundred, after which the proportion shall be so regulated by Congress, that there shall not be less than two hundred Representatives, nor more than one Representative for every fifty thousand persons."
has been ratified by eleven states. we need to bring this back and push it through. technology can make a house size of 6,700 functional. we need better representation. we need them to remember who they represent.
more house members will also make it harder to corrupt. have their standard offices be in the closest federal building and get them out of washington. make them live at home where they have to listen to us.
And paid only by the state they are supposed to represent. It appears that presently Congresspeople are getting pay and/or benefits from an entitly foreign to the sovereign states, domiciled in D.C., called THE UNITED STATES (CORP, 1871, 1971).
This appears to violate the emoluments clause unless, of course, they “legalized it” for themselves.
