Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
The thing with the Bible is there are a gazillion comments, opinions, questions about it. How do I explain to people to "go to their room, their secret place alone, and read/start with the New Testament. Get to know Jesus, fall in love with him, then when you read, put yourself in His shoes..how he feels and thinks, what makes him smile and cry and angry...You have to go within yourself and search for that eternal love and humanity inside you (your soul) and be quiet and listen to the Holy Spirit. From there you can read the rest and then go back to the Old Testament but the core of it is Jesus' love and how He already paid for your sins. And the most important commandment is to worship the Lord your God and Him only do you serve. Love thy neighbors and take the speck out of your own eyes before you try to remove the speck from other people's eyes.
The rest of the Bible like the history, revelation, and such, those are important only to a certain degree because life is short. Look around you and learn to love thy neighbors because even that's difficult to attain. If you can learn just one or two lessons from the Bible and live it, you're already one class ahead. Don't get too charmed by the riddles, and all those other things like "decoding", which you won't need after you die.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you for your reply. There’s so much to say about Christian science, but why? Why would I waste my time on that when you gave an eloquent answer?
