This guy has gotten to as close to the truth on cov fe'fe as I've heard. More to the story...

Trump posted this overnight in the US, but the Arabic indicates his intended audience was SA, and it was midday there. Meanwhile, during the super early hours of the morning in the US, TPTB changed the results of a Google translate search of "covfefe" to a shrug meme. Now, "covfefe" is, indeed, a poor transliteration of "I will stand up," but until that night, searching "covfefe" in g00gl3 translate yielded the correct translation.

When Trump's team saw the changed translation result, he next texted something similar to, "Who can know what it means?" to illustrated the information war we are in.

I'm unsure how all this got memory holed, but it's very telling.
