The historic invaders freely admitted that they were jihadis trying to conquer other people’s lands. They risked the coalescing of the enemies’ defenses in order to show faith in allah. There was some honor and masculinity there. These days only a minority of them are like that. The majority don’t believe their mission is holy so they don’t believe allah will help them, so in their worldly fear they resort to weasel tactics.
