The OKC bombing was a huge wakeup for me,I live pretty close to it,people I know lost friends and family.
The local press reported one set of facts and the national press a different set a facts.....
I would love to see those local stories if any exist.
edit: Any STILL exist.
This was pre internet. But I remember a huge manhunt for an Arab looking john doe number 2. Later they pretending like he didn't exist and wasn't missing.

Thank you for this. I guess Utah was more tech oriented. I recall tinkering with network communications in the early 90s in school. Even made comment to our typing teacher that we would never need to use typewriters (for our keyboard class) because computers were able to do it faster & connected together for games.
Old BBs, thought were the early days when young kids could have fun dialing up school admin from phone book numbers only to hear thrm on that crapy speaker yell for us to stop dialing them with a modem.
Caller ID ruined that pretty quick for us. Though we were able to connect. I think HTTP allowed us to build sites in school for others to look at as early as 92 or 93. Granted no news source had large sites up with articles that I recall. It was mainly kids programming web pages to give information about the store/business for anyone wanting to find a phone number to call after looking at the basics online.
Ah yeah, good old days of Netscape Navigator, GeoCities and Lycos.
