Slippery slope depending on where you are. In a lot of places, pissing off the hoa can be risky. If hoa fines you and you don't pay, they can actually get a lien placed against your home which can then cause even more trouble down the road. I'm no subject matter expert but I have seen some people in the past get screwed by shitty hoa boards. Responsibility of the home purchaser to fully understand everything about hoa prior to deciding to purchase.
