I agree with some of your premise, but not all of it.
Branding Eve as a selfish woman is not fair. Lucifer, when he met Eve was not yet a serpent. Instead, he was God's most exquisite creation, (before he was cast down to earth for a crime we are not privy to know.) And as such, was so virile, handsome and powerful that the pure and virginal young Eve was completely unequipped to resist his grooming and seductions. Lucifer, remember, was given nearly equal abilities to God. Who knows what kind of carefully crafted machinations were employed to overcome the protestations of the equally exquisite and virginal Eve. Adam and Eve were still virgins when Lucifer made his appearance and had not yet 'tasted the fruit'.
Such seductions by Lucifer towards Eve were (to my mind) NOT 'a bite of an apple' but a sexual act with the powerful and virile fallen angel.
Evidence suggests that Eve bore Cain from Lucifer and Able from Adam.
That is the genesis of why God spurned Cain and favored Able. And Cain, who was oblivious to the fact that his father was not Adam, could not understand the favoritism that his brother Able received. His fury over the unequal treatment led to him killing his brother. He was sent away after that and made a new life for himself in an area he named Canaan and had many offspring.
That is why the Canaanites (Cain's descendants) were always at odds with the Adamites (Adam's other children after Able and their descendants).
That is where the concept of 'Original Sin' came from, also, to my mind.
I'm sorry I don't give Eve a break and neither did God. Obviously He gave her punishment for a failed responsibility. You mention Cain. Cain suffered because of her attraction to Lucifer. I'm sorry but women need to control their lust. Women have to do what is right for others. If that is an offense, I'm sorry. We women are better than that.
Adam 'took a bite of the apple' after Eve did! Isn't he culpable equally?
Adam was just step two of revenge against God by Lucifer. Why would God cast Lucifer down to earth and trap him here where he KNEW that his new colony of brand new, virginal and naive humans (Adam and Eve) would be a temptation for Lucifer and be in constant jeopardy by his spurned and rejected former 'favorite son'?
Why would God allow this state of temptation for all parties? God made all of them, flawed and all. If you put out a feast of aromatic and delicious food every day in front of hungry people who you've commanded (without explanation) to fast and not eat, over time, eventually someone is going to stick their finger in the mashed potatoes and taste them. This was set up to fail.
It seems awfully unfair that you think 'ONLY EVE' is the failure here. Methinks you should examine your own life for the reason.
Yes Adam ate of the fruit. He did it because Eve nagged him. He too was punished. Perhaps you've forgotten that. I certainly have not forgotten that. But I believe the subject was Eve and her selfishness. Could be wrong. You be you.
