unions are good in theory, a free market capitalist organization of labor to negotiate wages. unfortunately the law I think has kneecapped them and leadership often does a poor job with them. I guess the question is about what better alternatives exist to unions today (seems to be mostly "voting with one's feet" to a better business or starting one yourself).
Unions have been corrupted by power. Now you need gubmint protection from unions. Gubmint protection for basic human rights is all that is needed. And capitalism should fix the rest. If you are a good worker, you get paid more. If you aren't, you get less. If you cost the company more than you bring in, you are let go. If you are paid less than you are worth, you get a better job. Or, you work for yourself and have to deal with an arsehole, slave-driver as a boss. Kek.
