The issue with some of the Apocrhphal books are they were written well after Jesus had died and Raised. Some of them are very accurate and should not have been removed(the ones in the old testimate) but some of the new testament books that were taken out were written a good 400 years after Jesus.
The issue with the Gospels is they were written well after Jesus' death. ....
IF that should be the determining factor .... we can throw out a lot more ....
This is not about about faith but about the historical record itself, not whether what is put into words is accurate, truthful, or not.
The sheer fact that a piece of text survives this long, is a miracle in and of itself. Given the fact, it was neglected for so long, the question becomes: what else is there ....
they were all written after His death and Resurrection. What makes them accurate is they are backed up by other historical documents. Some of those were a 100 years after and some were 5 years after. They were also backed up by witnesses whom wrote their historical accounts. It is the same way we know George Washington was real, multiple trusted documents from people we trust as historians. There are probably more out there that will either never be found or were destroyed completely.
As I wrote, this is not about faith, but about written records. An issue wrought with fraud.
I am sure, you have heard of the "Gift of Constantine", It took till the 15th century to be outed as a fraud. Yet, thousands, if not millions of dead motherfuckers, thanks to an overbearing papacy. It caused the Unam Sanctam bill and the pernicious influence of Roman law into every nook and cranny of society.
The funny thing is: If you were to ask ChatGTP, it would almost quote you verbatim, putting heavy emphasis on trusted sources, authority, and the like.
And we still don't see how we are being played by the Priests ....Freedom of mind is quite a thing,

Thank you for laboring the point.
