You should go way back to Genesis. How many wives did Adam have? How many did Noah have? How about each of his sons? How happy were the homes where the wives had to compete for the affections of the husband? The two becoming one? It’s not three or four or more becoming one. Jesus is the bridegroom coming to get his bride— not brides.
