I am so thankful every day that here in New Orleans, it's just different. Different from every place else I've ever seen or visited. We all basically get along here. There could not be all the festivals and Mardi Gras if the majority of residents - regardless of color - couldn't get along. No, it's not perfect. But it's better than what I've seen in other places. Whites and blacks - at the most basic of levels - want the same thing. If only everyone could figure that out.
