Here's my quick take:
So, in Washington('s home), they found some previously-undiscovered, but perfectly-preserved "food" that they're keeping "chilled" from pre-Revolutionary war days.
"...the bottles have been concealed in darkness" Containers -- boxes? -- have been hidden and the contents concealed from the public for a very long time?
Sounds like someone dug up some old documents in Washington DC that they've got on ice until the time is right to make them public.
Pre-revolutionary war days = prior to Trump becoming president?
"Scientists discovered 54 cherry pits and 23 stems. Bradburn hopes the seeds will be viable for germination β that a new window into the past may now be opened."
Seeds of data/information/hints are hopefully viable for "germination" = there is hope that this data will grow into something much bigger and open a new window on some past event.
Oh, just noticed:
54 cherry pits...54 mirrored is 45 = Trump.

So who exactly would these comms be for? And what purpose would they serve?
was just reading about this on the Mount Vernon siteπΈ so many whitehat clues, with numbers & topics. definitely recommend it. and yes, it's comms & you'll find much more by reading through the website. example; look up "died suddenly" and how tall the bronze statue of GW is...

Who are the comms for, and what are they supposed to do with them?
think it's telling us to dig more about MV, cherries, etc. the numbers in the article suggest that it was written by a white hat & Mount Vernon is full of authentic history that every American should know. as is the MountVernon.org website. just studying the info helps to open the mind to more Q...details connect, future proves past, etc.
