As long as we have the day off, remember to honor the half-million American Civil War dead who gave their lives to reunite the United States and end slavery forever. The American tradition of barbecue shall bring us all together. It's as good as Summer, the weather is great, and why not have a second day equivalent to the 4th of July?

If, I get your point, people shouldn’t waste time complaining about Juneteenth being made a holiday, we should embrace it. That’s great advice! I think it was made a holiday because they think it will be divisive. If we embrace it, the DS loses.
I keep thinking we should celebrate it with a reenactment parade where a Republican rides in on his horse and tells the Dems they can no longer enslave the black population. It would be refreshing if we actually linked our holidays to their historical roots.
Then, after people have a chance to interact with the living history characters who tell the true story about the holiday, we have a community barbecue.
Exactly. The worst possible people made it a holiday for the worst possible reasons. We're making it about unity, not division!
