As long as we have the day off, remember to honor the half-million American Civil War dead who gave their lives to reunite the United States and end slavery forever. The American tradition of barbecue shall bring us all together. It's as good as Summer, the weather is great, and why not have a second day equivalent to the 4th of July?

That is the way I have seen it celebrated, as black families gathering for food and fun, for over a decade.
Our ancestors freed them, we are welcome to celebrate, too.
