Agreed.
Disagreed, you conflate my skepticism on the "established understanding and dogma" of "The Trinity" with me denying Christ, which is quite the charge to levy as I just told you in detail my understanding of Christ and belief in Him.
Who all do you include within this label, may I ask? The very title itself speaks volumes.
Matthew 23:9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Remember these words.
Well, this is the matter of debate here, yes? We disagree on the Trinity, and you assert that my view of it is a gnostic heresy. What's the point in me replying to this lol
My debate is my reply.
Paul is speaking of how he himself was the conduit through which the Corinthian church received the Gospel through, obviously, and he never asked them to call him "father". We know the ones who do this, however. They are quite open with it!
Don't be silly. Jesus wasn't talking about parents and children. He was referring to:
Indeed, and you aswell. You seemingly esteem the words of men as doctrines of God and, may I venture to guess, you also yield yourself to a heirarchy of spiritual leaders beyond the organizational leadership structure in your local church? Should we also canonize these "church fathers" writings? Should their interpretations of Biblical concepts be added in the footnotes of the scriptures? I understand that debates have been had long ago and will admit to not being studied in them, but will be looking into the things you've mentioned. I just want the truth and like I said I'm not fully committed to my view on the Trinity concept. It isn't something I put much effort into, I've been quite busy digging into other concepts, as you probably know by now. I believe in Jesus, as I understand him to be the promised Messiah sent by God, to save sinners. The Lamb slain for us all, the Son of God. The Lord of lords and King of kings, as opposed to that blasphemous papacy who also boasts these titles, if not in word, certainly in action and effect throughout its history, as it is merely the continuation of the Caesar, the Pharoah, all the way back to Nimrod, though it appear as a lamb, speaking as a dragon for if a king or a governor were to disagree with him he would face certain ruin. Thanks be to God his political power has been nerfed significantly.
I actually don't know when.. I'll have to look into this. I have wondered at why which books were excluded / included. As I understand it the OT was already largely settled upon, give or take some apocrapha books, as the Hebrews had been preserving their collections for centuries, while the NT came together over time. I use the AKJV1611 Bible, which had the apocrapha as a separate book entirely, moreso just to preserve the texts but not to say they were doctrinal.
Kek, yeah Paul and the apostles didn't teach the traditions you are claiming I must follow or be damned. That's what we're debating here.
You claim to know my heart. That's rich. You don't know how much digging I've done and on what, and as far as this discussion goes you're the only one claiming absolutes about your position, and with much vitriol.
As I said before (it may have been in response to someone else) this isn't a topic which alters the doctrines Christ taught us, so it shouldn't be one for Christian division, in my opinion. So naturally it isn't something which would "cause the Gates of Hades to prevail against his church". I am certainly not calling Christ a liar either.
Fren you have your dogma goggles on so tight they're blocking the bloodflow to your ears! I will go over the works you sent me when I have the time and as I keep saying, I'm open to being corrected. I haven't delved into this aspect as heavily as some others.
