Stephen [I] . . . boasts of the place of his episcopate, and contends that he holds the succession from Peter, on whom the foundations of the Church were laid [Mt 16:18]. . . . [Pope] Stephen . . . announces that he holds by succession the throne of Peter [Firmilian of Caesarea quoted in St. Cyprian’s Letters 74:17 (c. A.D. 255)].
If anyone considers and examines these things, there is no need for a long discussion and arguments. There is easy proof of faith in a short summary of the truth. The Lord says to Peter: “I say to you,” he says, “that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. And to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven . . .” [Mt 16:18–19]. - Cyprian of Carthage, 251AD
Again, the text is what matters not what a man said. Look at the preserved word of God. And seriously consider this thought. On Judgement day we will all be judged individually. You must read and understand for yourself.
And I have already told you what the text means. It was his confession not Peter himself. There would be leagues more evidence in the bible if Peter was to be elevated to a position above the apostles and hold a special office not spoken about in scripture. At least 1 verse speaking of the qualifications to become a Pope or cardinal. As for priests, Jesus is our High priest and all the baptized believers are a "Royal Priesthood" according to Peter.
Speaking of the office of Pope and his infallible nature, does it not seem strange to you that Galileo was put under house arrest by the Pope for declaring we live in a heliocentric solar system? Wouldn't someone like the Pope know that very simplistic fact about creation? Peter was smarter than this.
Jesus has the greatest authority. After Him we're all equals and that's my point. Paul told Timothy to study to show thyself approved. The Bereans are praised for searching the scriptures daily in order to find out if those among them are false prophets. God has kept His word true and pure and it is profitable for...II Tim 3:16
Nowhere in the Bible does it show Peter as Pope. So let's pretend that I only have a bible in my house and I read it and fully understand it. Do I blame God of it doesn't match the teachings of the Catholic Church or do I need to purchase more than the Bible because I'm lost with just the word of God?
But you didn't quote scripture. You quoted Cyprian.

You're missing the point.
Firmilian, Cyprian, Eusebius, and all the early Christians are doing the EXACT SAME THING YOU ARE DOING (i.e. using scripture to argue a point)
Firmilian + bible (268AD)
Cyprian + bible (251AD)
Eusebius + bible (312AD)
VS.
AcesSliver + bible (2024AD)
