The Talmud states that a marriage isn't recognized as legitimate until it is consummated, and people would wait outside to make sure the marriage was consummated on the wedding night. And babies could be married off.

To be fair, my best friend growing up was Hindu, and her great grandmother was married off at the age of 4, and had her first child when she was 11, so this kind of stuff did happen in many cultures in the past. I'm not sure at what age her marriage was consummated though.

I will look at these links. That is the right thing to do. I will say a few things off the top of my head. The Talmud spans several centuries and is comprised of the commentary of many scholars that is often contradictory and some of it has been proven inaccurate because it is based on accepted science of the times that has been debunked. The volume of the Talmud is great. Being Orthodox and referencing the Talmud for assistance in the Torah does not place it above the Scriptures. The Scripture still holds a much higher place than the Talmud. Also, it is my understanding that different Orthodoxies focus on selected, limited portions of the Talmud in interpreting the Scriptures. They do not study let alone practice the Talmud in its entirety. Its contradictions and inaccuracies alone prevent that. The sheer volume of commentary is also an issue. In Christianity, we have many commentators. They don't all agree. We study the ones that best represent and align with our doctrinal beliefs. Some"Christian" practices are not automatically practiced by all Christians. As a NON Jewish evangelical Christian, I have started watching videos by everyday people like myself who are sharing their Jewish life and also, occasionally, to Jewish rabbis. Although I do believe that there are Jews who are more radical in their beliefs-- actually, I know that's true-- I am not at all convinced that that is true of all Jews, including Orthodox Jews. Many things have been done in the name of Christianity that are not representative of true, Biblical Christianity. Some are very very evil. Some are of the variety of redefining sin and calling it loving. It is simply not right to me (though upon first inspection perhaps understandable) to lump all Orthodox Jews together. I do question whether there really was a stand down of seven hours ordered on October 7. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I'm unwilling to jump quickly to that conclusion. For instance, the base from which five/(seven?) young IDF women were abducted, although assistance was slow in coming, it did come within two hours. This information is straight from the mouths of the mothers of those young women. I also listened to the stories/interviews of many IDF reservists who were activated immediately to report for duty and go to the front lines. There were reports that many IDF troops were diverted to the West Bank that day because of a security threat. Maybe this is accurate. I don't know. What I wonder is, did the Intel on this reach Netanyahu and his cabinet. Were there bad actors in the Intel community who hate Israel. Two million Israelis are Arab and participate in government. Some of these citizens are Muslims who despise Israel in much the same way that they despise Christians (though not all). It only takes a few bad apples in the right position to do great damage. Without all of the facts, we should be careful about jumping to conclusions. The kind of things that were done to Israelis on October 7 occur in some form on a daily basis to Christians throughout Africa and the Middle East to include Gazan Christians. There are Palestinians who have paid with their lives for converting. There used to be a thriving Christian population in Gaza. Most have fled since the IDF withdrew from the Gaza strip. See Voice of the Martyrs, International Christian Concern for documentation of this. My son is probably alive today because of his friendship with an observant Ashkenazi Orthodox Jew. That brings me to tears to think about it. Many really do value life more than you might be inclined to give them credit for. Gazan Muslims have said things like,"We value death like you value life," to the Jews. Hamas leaders have called publicly, on the Internet for the blood of women and children to fuel their passion. Hamas has been using tax payer money to create infrastructure in civilian areas from which to attack Israel both before and since the war. What I wonder about is, if Israel is as powerful and overall as evil as so many claim it is and their grip on power in the world is so great, then why are they constantly criticized for every move they make in the defense of their people which, it is their responsibility to ensure. Why is it that this administration refunded UNWRA who is pro Hamas after President Trump defunded it? Why are they being pressured to end this conflict in a way that would leave Hamas in power and positioned to repeat another October 7th which their leaders have publicly vowed to do "up to a million times" if necessary in order to achieve their goal of annihilating the Jews who they say are pigs and monkeys. Why does this administration advocate for the Palestinian Authority which supports Hamas and terror activity in the West Bank and has said that they are closely linked with Hamas? It all sounds like a death wish if the Jews are behind it. I agree you that there are very evil powerful people who are Jews. That doesn't answer these questions and others like them. (If you have some answers, I'd be interested.) George Soros is technically a Jewish Holocaust survivor. That is not a man who cares at all about Jews anymore than he cares about anyone else. He is simply an evil man. One more thought: terror attacks from true Muslims because of Koranic doctrine and Mohammed's example are real threats. Muslim violence and other abuses even against their own people happen because of ideology irrespective of anything else. That is a very serious threat today.

This happens. They also have a practice that is common is some countries that is, I believe is called muttah. A man who is traveling away from home will marry a young girl, get her pregnant, and then abandon her when he leaves town got his next destination. The idea is to keep him from sexual immorality while away from his wife by being legally married. There are Christian ministries that minister to these young girls including providing them with restorative surgeries. Sometimes, they are still dependent on urine and/or ostomy bags. That I know of, this is something that regularly occurs in various African countries. Bachi bazi (sp?) is practiced in Afghanistan which is the purchasing of little boys for sex. They force them to dress up as girls and dance for them. During the Obama administration, our soldiers were told to stand down when they heard these little boys scream as they were being abused on our bases. They are often physically damaged by this abuse as you can imagine. Sargent Martland was court martialed over his attempts to address this and Obama did nothing about it. The ACLJ came to his defense.
