I think there’s some more nuance in there. 25% outright admit to regretting having gotten the vax. I expect there’s another 50% that are questioning Covid or the vax on some level. I think this for a couple of reasons. First is because the vast majority of people have stopped taking boosters. They would still keep taking them if they still believed Covid was a threat and the shots were safe and effective. Secondly, this is a very difficult question to answer if you believed you were conned into destroying your health. Many would have trouble admitting this to a stranger on the phone. My coworker is one of these people. Under no circumstance will she admit she was wrong, but she’s also very clear that she’s “done her part and won’t take any more”.
We know they were lying about the rate of vax uptake, plus a ton of people got fake cards, etc. Here are my estimates on the adult population in the US:
40% unvaccinated 20% regret taking or seriously question the vax 25% question enough to stop taking shots 10% will take it if their TV starts scaring them again 5% true believers who are on their 8th booster
Also to note that, kids are much less likely to be vaxxed. So as they turn 18 and as the heavily vaxxed boomers pass these numbers will change quickly.
Owning your mistakes is always the learning moment. Hopefully they all don't end like the ferrets.
