(as an aside. I had extensive conversations with the Master Chief on a Heavy Cruiser stationed at Pearl in 1940 onward. "Often his Fleet Admirals Flag ship" . 3 days before Dec 7 they put to sea. He had not made any preparations and when he asked was told Destroyer integration practice and he would be told more when necessary.
