Birds have long been a symbol within the Maison. The story of the Dove and Schiaparelli begins with Pablo Picasso’s painting “Birds In a Cage”. The bird imagery continued within Schiaparelli’s designs as phoenixes and swallows, carrying the meaning of freedom, rebirth, and peace.
