Got in a brief but fun discussion with some liberal family members (we keep it respectful somehow).
They were saying, "going to write in Bernie" because Joe can't run things obviously.
When they started suggesting how bad a Trump win would be, I had a moment of clarity and put it into a personal safety analogy.
"So magine your younger kids have spent the summer at their grandparents. Summer is over so grandpa is going to drive them to the airport. Who do you trust to drive your kids, grandpa Donald or grandpa Joe? Why? If you don't feel they're safe driving a vehicle with the kids inside, do you feel safe with them running the country? If ol' Joe was family you'd take his license and car keys for his own safety, right?"
There were slow nods. Besides the most hard-left of the group, most begrudgingly admitted Trump is the better choice, even if they strongly oppose him.
It's absolutely fascinating.
We don't all agree. But respecting each other is a big part of why we all get along.
