Going shopping used to be a pleasant experience until the face mask came into play. I'm retired and live in the country. I go to town about twice a month. The store employees and other customers used to smile. Than came the mask and 6 foot distancing crap. Now that that's all over with, things just never went back to where it was. Is it just me or does it seem like people have lost their people skills? Customer service sucks and the other shoppers have this tunnel vision. Has anybody else noticed this?

Make sure you smile first. I always try to be friendly with the staff. They are not my slaves, they are there doing their job. Always say "please" and "thank you" no matter the menial task they are providing. No mask can overcome politeness and courtesy.
During covid i had a job where i needed to check IDs from time to time- when asking to pull their masks down, i would always complement the persons smile...."there it is! What a great smile you have!"
