It was TOTALLY an operation....my spidey sense sniffed that out in 5 min and the rest if the debate turned into a comedy for me.
I found it interesting there was a 2 min delay, but they kept Joe's wet fart/shart noise in the broadcast... which confirmed it for me (aside from them pouring on Joe's buffoon act HEAVILY)
