This might be a side tangent but the concept of Philosopher King's making decisions as a small collective falls into the category of an oligarchy.

Giving power to a small group of people to make decisions for their vision of utopia always leads to disaster IMVHO.

No matter how smart, wealthy, resourceful, , etc it just doesn't lead to anything of lasting value.
