If he gets in he’ll gag any media that disagrees with him, he’ll pardon himself and any mates from everything , he’ll trash the US economy, workers will suffer, he’ll sabotage the global effort on climate change…. on it goes.

Wow. This is actually huge and extremely worrying for humanity.

To think they formed the country on the basis that they didn't really like Kings and Queens. Now this. The main lesson here is....whatever you do, don't politicise your highest judiciary.

What a sick society that Presidential appointments as judges can virtually give a person carte blanche to do just about anything. Makes the Westminster system look particularly good, although the LNP have circumvented some of its rules at times! Albert Field affair anyone?

What a sad day for America. From one of my Facebook groups, I am reading of many Americans who are deeply, deeply troubled with this.I wonder why, with SCOTUS voting along partisan lines, they bother with the charades of legal arguments. Why not just take the vote at the beginning. Nothing will change, and they will save heaps of time, money and paper.

Despite all the whinging, what's the bet that Democrat voters will just sit at home on voting day (because they can) because of some trivial reason:"I don't like Biden" (but you like Trump even less, so why not vote for Biden...?)"I don't like Biden's response to the Palestinians in the Israel/Gaza conflict" (and Trumps' will be better?)...etc, etc, etc. Americans have reduced their voting to being concerned about more trivial matters - when the biggest problem right now is actually keeping their democracy, as egregiously flawed at it is.

American Dream becomes American Nightmare. This is a warning to Liberal US voters. If MAGA get their way and vote Trump in, he’ll be there for life and the Presidency will become a Trump family dynasty that will be handed down for generations.

Gosh, maybe he’s a genius after all. Stacking the Supreme Court with conservative activist justices during his term as President was a stroke of extreme cleverness, if not genius, we must admit. And, it’s as if he knew this would happen; he foresaw the future. He prepared. And was rewarded.

This could eventually lead to a civil war. Sad times for the world.

This is bizarre This is the most significant decision reached by this ultra conservative court that has the potential to end international alliances, destroy the rule of law, destroy a democracy and change the way the world looks at the United States of America.It could also backfire, and be the greatest catalyst for change and reform in the United States.It all depends upon the results of the 2024 elections for president and the House and the Senate.The American colonists fought for independence vowing that their country will never be ruled by a monarchy , now SCOTUS has all but declared America is ruled by a monarch. This will bring outrage by the electors which should put this notion to rest once and for all with an election result that will give a Democratic Administration a clear mandate and the power to reform SCOTUS and move to have this decision reversed with constitutional change to protect their rule of law and democracy .Otherwise America will spiral into the world’s first nuclear armed banana republic and there is no going back from there.

If Trump wins, we need to review our position with regard to America. There is now nothing stopping them from being a danger to us.

Another piece of American democracy just died; the sun is setting low on the horizon now. November, will be the start of the longest night. If DJT wins, this will also be the last election in America.

Reading this is so funny- the Supreme Court has sent the case to the lower courts to determine which acts Trump committed to overthrow the election were 'official' or 'unofficial.' That's just surreal.

This will strengthen his delusion that he actually won both of the last two elections and should again, or still, be the president. Likewise the equally deluded, closed-minded people who support him will now be convinced that is the case and if Trump loses the election in November they will instantly conclude that this is yet another case of rigged elections and react accordingly. We've already seen what that means; look at the footage from the January 6th riot.

Given the state of things in the U.S., the UK and France at present, we would be well advised to scrap our involvement in ANZUS, AUKUS and Five Eyes and get on board with China post haste. The "Western" democracy project is a rapidly sinking ship due to the venal, neglectful and self-absorbed politicians that we elect as our leaders. Time to consciously uncouple, as they say in the trade, and jump aboard the Shanghai Express!

An astonishing day for the USA and the world. The end of the rule of law for Americans, while the door is opened for the rise of a totalitarian state. In my seven decades on this planet I never expected to see the end of the USA as a democracy. Now, with one man having unlimited power, it is no different to Putin's Russia, Xi's China and North Korea's Kim. Please, America, wake up before it is too late and you tear yourselves to pieces.

This is 'Kim Jong Un' type of stuff!
