Edit to say: I meant to put them under ImpeachThisBitch's post about laziness at work! We own a small business, and within the last two years we have people who come in late, leave early, or don't come in at all. We have maybe 4 employees on a good day, so it's very impactful.
When they do make it to work, they spend time on their phones, are rude to customers, then complain they don't make enough commission (after not trying to sell and letting customers leave without at least trying) and want more hourly wage.
They think they are worth way more money than they get, complain to the other employees, and spread their poison, all while not doing a good job on the work they do and letting customers walk out without at least TRYING to make money so we can pay them more.
So lazy. So entitled. Wait until there's drama at home, then they spend all their time texting and talking on their phones. Then they "work" through their lunch so they can get paid more, citing the fact that we are "understaffed" and they are "overworked" and "overwhelmed".
Now I feel like an old codger, saying "when I was a kid..." but when I was at work, I worked. They paid me to perform a certain job, and I did it. I did it the best I could. If there was drama at home, it would wait until my lunch or break, and if it couldn't, I handled it swiftly so I could get back to work. When I was hired, even if I discovered I didn't like my job or thought there was more work than I was paid for, I still did it to the best of my ability until the day I left. I even worked during my 2 weeks notice, trying to wrap things up and leave the company or business in a good position for whoever replaced me.
Now people are so entitled, want free perks with their job, want more money, don't want to work, don't want to sell so we can pay them, do a crappy job when they do work, work slow..... it's awful. I don't know if it's the jab or if it's the "everyone gets a trophy" generation grown up.
