One possible explanation for the number 666 could be the sum of integers from 1 to 36. When arranged in a "magic square" of side 6, the sum of integers in each row and column equals 111, and the total sum is 666.

The 6x6 magic square is associated with the Sun, see e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_square#Europe_after_15th_century But i don't see how the Beast from Revelations would be associated with the Sun in any way.

Thanks. Now that I see the link I remember learning about that once. I just didn't realize that's what you were referring to. I don't think it has any connection to Revelation's Beast though.
