I don't know any black women who actually think Kamal-Toe is a black woman. They all say she's Indian-American. My response is always this: You can't be American if you're hyphenated. You're either American, or you're not.

Exactly this. If you use a hyphen like arab- American you already know their allegiance is to the first word in the hyphenated name.

And yeah kamala is squarely Indian lol
