As a devout Christian who has a personal relationship with God in Christ, who prays and reads psalms 4 times a day, I do not want my faith anywhere near any group of politically motivated persons to define what my Christianity should be. Living in Christ changes people, there is no need to have civil law change my relationship one way or the other. God gives us free choice to sin or not to, what would be the point if it was turned in to law? God loves us and he wants the love returned, he commands it, but it still remains a choice. Hollow recanting of prayer or citing anything does not require love of God, it just requires compliance of the masses. I do not support atheists when I vote, it is important to me if an elected public servant has a living faith and practices it, but again, that is my choice. And what kind of Christian is government approved? There are so many denominations, does it have to be someone born again, or a cradle Catholic? Will it be a Lutheran or a Russian Orthodox? Havn't we witness enough men who claim to be ordained or holy rollers who have abused children? the Catholics do not have the monopoly on that. I believe Christ will come again and we will be subjects to HIM in HIS Kingdom, until then it's all just civics to me. I want less government, not a different flavor of it.
