My thought is that the Bible refocuses on what was described as the world, ie middle east and surrounding areas. Given all the death, destruction, losses of ships, and more, likely that the US and any other more foreign powers would be removed from the equation even if they still are around. It takes a lot to project power that far.
As support for this speculation, how many other nations aren't mentioned? Does that mean that most nations in the world no longer exist or that they just aren't relevant?
Many other nations (areas) are mentioned but none of them were global leaders as America had been. That absence of such a major power is what I found odd.
