Why did he leave DC with the football?

He was still president. Until Noon.

You do know that there are multiple versions of the football. And that the football was then simply flown back the DC. They changed the codes immediately at noon. None of the codes in the football that was in Florida were active at 12:01 p.m. January 20th.

The football is a communication device worth several hundred thousand dollars. Nobody is suggesting Trump stole the football and kept it.

Both the football and the plane designated as Air Force. One just flew back to DC when he was done.
